Education truly is a privilege. With more than 70 million children who have no access to primary education, it becomes obvious that not all are guaranteed the right to education. As a result, more than 700 million adults around the world cannot read or write. Consequently, they lack the basic principles that could help them to improve their living conditions. What happens when you deprive millions of their right to education can be seen all around the world. Poverty, trafficking, slavery, and diseases that could be avoided are often the results of a lack of education. Similarly, individuals who are illiterate are more likely to be susceptible to victimization. Many of us think of education as a right. However, when keeping the above figures in mind, it becomes clear that it is more than a right; it’s a privilege. At the same time, education does not stop once you’ve graduated. Instead, learning, growing, and educating yourself is a lifelong process. It will never stop
